Revati Chandrashtama Days 2026-2027: Dates & Times

Chandrashtama is read two ways. By Janma Rasi, people born in Revati follow the Meenam Rasi window, when the Moon passes through the 8th sign from Meenam. Tamil daily panchangams also mark it by star: the day the Moon is in Vishakha, the 17th star from Revati. This page lists both, for every month of 2026 and 2027.

Revati nakshatra, which falls under the Meenam Rasi used for its Chandrashtama dates

Revati sits in the Meenam Rasi, so the rasi window below is the Meenam one; the star-level day is the Moon in Vishakha.

Revati Nature: The star of safe journeys, nourishment, and completion.

Deity: Pushan

Vishakha starts inside Thulam, the sign the Moon occupies during this rasi window, and runs a few degrees past its end. So for Revati the star-level day begins inside the rasi window and carries on for about 7 hours after it closes; those extra hours are flagged only by star-based calendars.

Tarabalam for Revati

Tarabalam rates any day by the star the Moon is in, counted from Revati. The count repeats every nine stars, so each of the nine taras comes from three Moon stars. Check the day's star in any panchangam and read its tara below.

  1. Janma (not good): when the Moon is in Revati, Ashlesha and Jyeshtha; the Moon is back in your own star; keep the day light.
  2. Sampat (very good): when the Moon is in Ashwini, Magha and Mula; wealth and gains.
  3. Vipat (bad): when the Moon is in Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha; obstacles and losses.
  4. Kshema (good): when the Moon is in Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha; well-being and safety.
  5. Pratyak (not good): when the Moon is in Rohini, Hasta and Shravana; opposition and friction.
  6. Sadhaka (very good): when the Moon is in Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta; achievement; good for starting work.
  7. Naidhana (totally bad): when the Moon is in Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha; the weakest tara; avoid new beginnings.
  8. Mitra (good): when the Moon is in Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada; friendship and support.
  9. Parama Mitra (good): when the Moon is in Pushya, Anuradha and Uttara Bhadrapada; the closest support.

During the rasi Chandrashtama window the tara for Revati is Sadhaka, Naidhana, Mitra, the same every month.

How these times are calculated

All times are in IST, computed from the Moon's sidereal position with the Lahiri ayanamsa: the Thirukanitha method, the same basis Drik Panchang uses. Vakya panchangams, which many Tamil calendars still print, can differ by around 30 minutes at a star change. Days here run midnight to midnight; panchangams that start the day at sunrise show early-morning changes under the previous date.

Revati Chandrashtama: common questions

Is Revati's Chandrashtama the same as Purva Bhadrapada's?

By rasi, yes: both follow the Meenam Rasi window. By star, no: Tamil panchangams list Revati when the Moon is in Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada when it is in Chitra, so their star-level days fall about a day apart inside or next to that window.

Why does my calendar show Revati under Chandrashtama on only one day?

Daily panchangams list Chandrashtama by star: the day's entry names the stars whose 17th star the Moon is in. Revati appears while the Moon is in Vishakha, about a day, whereas the Meenam Rasi window lasts about two and a quarter days.

Which Moon stars are weakest for Revati?

Naidhana tara, the weakest, comes when the Moon is in Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha. Vipat (Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha) and Pratyak (Rohini, Hasta and Shravana) are also unfavourable for starting new work.
